The 12th Annual Mini Landscape Competition at the 2018 Fresno Home & Garden Show returns as a part of our garden features. Fresno Shows introduced the competition 11 years ago, and the venue has proven to be one of the most popular sites at the Home Shows.

Children between the ages of 14 and 18 have been encouraged, with the help of their teachers, to put together mini-landscapes that will be judged by professional landscapers and Master Gardeners. There will be a first place winner for each age grouping within The Minis.

To get started, each student, or group of students, receives a $20 gift certificate to purchase all required soil and plant materials. The landscape theme is "open", so the children's imaginations can really go wild.  They decide on a theme, plan it, then plant it!  They will also be responsible for watering and maintaining the landscape/garden until show time.

The competition will be held Friday morning (March 2, 2018) at 9:00 a.m., before the Fresno Home and Garden Show opens. All entries will remain on display at the Mini area located in the Garden Pavilion (near the Butler Entrance, south fairgrounds). Be sure to drop by and get a peek into what the future of landscaping in the Central Valley. Passing the torch (or maybe the backhoe?).
